In 1993, Southern legends 8Ball & MJG released their national debut Comin’ Out Hard. The classic featured hits such as “9 Little Millimeta Boys,” “Mr. Big,” “Armed Robbery,” & the album’s title track.
To assure fans that they were going to be around for a minute, the following year, they released On the Outside Looking In, which featured hit “Lay It Down.” Speaking of the track, 8Ball revealed in an interview with B High that the track was actually recorded during their debut recording sessions and nearly went on the album. Ball couldn’t really pin point the exact reason why they held on to the track, initially saying “I don’t know” when asked. But he would admit that the MJG-produced track didn’t fit well with the rest of the recordings.

“And if you look back, On the Outside Looking In, that’s only song that sounded like that.” 8Ball said.

Later in the interview, Ball touched on his relationship with MJG and referenced them as “brothers.” Also, he said that despite solo projects from both members, 8Ball & MJG are going to “never break up.” #TBT
