Nipsey Hussle was gunned down Sunday afternoon. Reportedly, the incident happened in front of his clothing store, The Marathon Clothing located in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, south of the Crenshaw area.
The Hip Hop community–and the whole world as far as I’m concerned–has taken a blow! I rocked with Nipsey the long way. Partially, because I was a long time fan of Snoop Dogg. Yeah, their speaking tone and demeanors were similar. But you could clearly hear the difference when Nipsey spit.

Nipsey was what I wanted Snoop to become– keeping it ‘G, but more lyrically. I felt like Snoop mastered simplicity, which was cool–that was his lane. And for the record, the O.G. could spit some real bars when he wanted to. He got down on “The Bidness,” from the 2004 album, R&G (Rhythm & Gangsta): The Masterpiece. But that was just one out of every 20 tracks. I wanted more–and I got more in Nipsey’s 2010 mixtape, The Marathon.
Now, that’s not to degrade Snoop in no capacity. Again, he mastered simplicity–he mastered cool. But Nipsey added the extra seasoning that I personally wanted. He’ll truly be missed!
Reports say there were 2 other people shot, but survived. The allege shooter fled in a vehicle after the shooting. Which can be seen in a video posted by TMZ.
