The King of R&B conversation has been an on and off hot topic since Jacquees self-proclamation. Now, it’s seems to be hot again with fans stepping in and giving Usher the title. However, let’s keep in mind, R.Kelly anointed himself as “the Pied Piper of R&B” years back and no one said anything. I would like to settle this with a 12 Play vs Confessions, two of the artist’s two biggest albums, debate.
The 90s was a sex-infused decade and Kels’ 12 Play was the aphrodisiac. Songs such as “Bump n’ Grind” and “Sex Me Part I & II” could definitely set the mood.

Though the album provided it’s share of freaky songs, Kelly offered comforting songs as well such as “Homie Lover Friend” and “For You.”
“If I told you once,” Kelly sings in the latter. “I told you twice. That when you need to cry, I’ll be your shoulder.”
Kels did a dedication to his late-mother with “Sadie,” The Spinners remake.
Usher’s Confession would come little over a decade later. His personal life was used as a promotional tool. For example, the title-track dealt with infidelity in which a child was conceived from the affair. Many thought the song was about Chilli of TLC, whom he dated in the past.
Though infidelity was the main theme, Usher Raymond made songs for the faithful. For example, “My Boo” was one of the better duets between him and Alicia Keys. “Yeah!” the Crunk-infused jam, was a popular dancefloor hit.
Despite Kel’s legal woes, 12 Play is a classic. So is Usher’s Confessions. If you had to choose, which one you’re rocking with?
’12 Play’ or ‘Confessions’?
