No record company has had the rap game in a choke hold the way No Limit and Cash Money have. Headed by Master P and Birdman, respectively, the New Orleans natives created a wave that you couldn’t escape. Which leads to the aged-old question: No Limit or Cash Money?
Though No Limit rose to national stardom first, Cash Money had been around long before Master P was saying “ughhh.” Signees such as Kilo G, Ms.Tee, and UNLV, among others, helped CMR garnered a solid fan base throughout the Southern region. They would capitalize on the momentum later by signing artists such as Juvenile, Lil Wayne, B.G., Turk, and the Big Tymers.

While Baby and his brother Ronald “Slim” Williams were gaining momentum in the N.O., P was building his foundation in Richmond California. However, he didn’t become a household name until he moved back to his hometown.
Artists such as Mia X, Mystikal, Fiend, Mac, Silkk The Shocker, and Soulja Slim, among others, help made the No Limit logo one of the more iconic brands in Hip Hop history. In fact, the No Limit charm on the back of the CD was the sales pitch.

When it comes to Southern-based record companies, it doesn’t matter which label you liked better, “No Limit or Cash Money” always make for a good conversation.
