(R&B) Usher’s ‘My Way’; Classic!, Jammin’, Regular, or Not Impressed?

Usher took the world by storm with his 2004 release, Confessions. That was his fourth album. Let’s go back two albums and chop it up about My Way.

My Way was released in September of 1997. His self-titled debut recognized him as the next teenage heartthrob. However, “You Make Me Wanna…,” song about Usher tempting to leave his main thing for his female best friend, was grown folk subject matter.

“Nice & Slow,” the album’s third single, was also a clear indication that Usher had become a mature young man.

“I pull up, anticipating,” Usher sings. “Good love, don’t keep me waiting. I got plans to put my hands in places I never seen, girl you know what I mean.”

Usher linked up with fellow teenage-phenomenon, Monica, for “Slow Jam,” a Midnight Star remake.

My Way reached the number 15 spot on Billboard 200, and atop the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. The album has been certified 6X platinum by RIAA.

I think we would agree that Confessions is a classic. Maybe 8701. But what about My Way?
