According to one source, U.S. nightlife has taken a major hit. Many may point to the shaky economy as the reason, while others argue that crime is causing people to stay home on the weekends. However, Ice Cube, the West Coast icon, suggested that we go back to America’s pastime.
“But see, ya know, people don’t slow dance no more,” Ice Cube responded when asked what was different about partying compared to when he was a teenager.
“Like, we used to dim the lights. We all up on it, know what I mean? We ain’t trying to show our moves; we trying to get close. So it was a different style. And then you had, ya know, the hood dudes come through. They wasn’t invited. So what they wanna do? Turn the party out.”
Cube later added, “We need to get some slow dancing back into the mix, ya know what I mean? We need some slow jams. We need some close dancing—with a little bump ’n’ grind. Ain’t nothing wrong with it.”
This may sound unusual coming from a rapper who’s not known for making love songs. However, you must pay attention to the message, not the messenger.
