The Hip Hop community has lost a legend. Irv Gotti died at the age of 54.
Gotti, real name Irving Domingo Lorenzo Jr., worked as an executive producer for Def Jam – notably working with DMX – before co-founding Murda Inc. Records in 1998.
As The Inc. head honcho, Gotti helped jumpstart the careers of Ja Rule and Ashanti, among others.
Gotti would eventually get into film.
No specific cause of death was provided for Gotti. He experienced a minor stroke in the spring of 2024 due to complications from diabetes.
