Master P’s No Limit tank reigned supreme during the late ’90s. However, by 2000, that reign began to decline when soldiers such as Snoop Dogg, Soulja Slim, and Mr. Magic, among others, departed the tank for what were assumed to be greener pastures. Mystikal received his discharge papers too—but not by request.
During an interview with VladTV, the New Orleans native made it known that he did not leave No Limit. In fact, it was No Limit that left him.
“I did not leave No Limit. Let’s set the record f**king straight,” Mystikal clarified. “No Limit left me, man. I showed up for work and looked around, and they had boxes and sh*t—they ain’t here no mo’.”
Mystikal went on to tell Vlad that he was in Atlanta recording “Shake Ya Ass” when he received the call from the Colonel.
“He called me while I was in Atlanta. I was in the studio,” Mystikal continued. “He said, ‘Look, Mike, bro, we did our thang, bro. Everything’s—you know—on the up and up. I’mma go and let you do your thing, and I’m finna go in a different direction.’”
Many fans were saddened by Mystikal’s departure. However, the music he made post–No Limit definitely smoothed things over.
